Male Reproductive System
The most critical detail about the male reproductive system is that it is specialized for the production, storage, and delivery of sperm (male gametes) and the hormone testosterone.
Its function relies on a highly coordinated anatomical setup:
The Factories (Testes): Housed outside the core body cavity in the scrotum to keep them at a slightly cooler temperature, which is optimal for sperm development.
The Transit and Storage (Epididymis & Vas Deferens): Sperm mature in the epididymis before traveling through the vas deferens during ejaculation.
The Support Crew (Prostate & Seminal Vesicles): These glands add protective, nutrient-rich fluids to the sperm, creating semen to help them survive the journey.
